About Spearbit & Cantina:

We're building Cantina, an AI security platform that secures the world's code. Cantina is the security workforce behind your security workforce: it lets a lean team operate with the coverage of a security organisation ten times its size, and closes the loop from first discovery to verified fix.

The platform grew out of Spearbit, a network of the world's top independent security researchers, into a multi-product system: Clarion, our agentic security platform; Apex, our agentic offensive-security engineer, which finds exploitable paths in code and writes the fixes; and Cantina Bounties, our bug bounty platform. Alongside these we run security competitions and expert-led reviews for some of the most demanding teams in web3 and web2.

The Opportunity

Security is one of the most inherently dramatic subjects in tech and almost nobody films it well. Exploits, live hacks, researchers finding things they shouldn't be able to find, competitions with real money on the line. The raw material is extraordinary, and most of the industry turns it into slide decks.

We're hiring a creator, not a pair of hands. You own visual storytelling across short-form: concepting, shooting, editing and publishing. That means you bring the formats and the hooks. You decide what a piece should be, not just how to execute someone else's brief. You'll be embedded with the marketing team and close to the researchers, with access to the people and the moments that make this stuff worth watching.

We are an AI company, and we expect our content to be made the way an AI company would make it. You should already be building with generative tooling: image and video models, AI editing and rough-cut assistants, voice and audio cleanup, motion and VFX, upscaling, automated captioning and localisation, and whatever shipped last month that we haven't used yet. Used well, this is what lets one creator produce at the volume of a small studio, test five variants of a hook instead of one, and turn a shoot around same-day. Used badly it produces slop, and we can tell the difference. We want someone with the taste to know which is which.

This role is NYC-based and will start as a 60-day contract engagement, with the potential to transition into a full-time permanent role. You'll be shooting in person (team, researchers, events, conferences), and we want someone who can turn up, find the story in the room, and ship it while it's still relevant.

Responsibilities

• Own short-form video end to end: concept, shot list, shoot, edit, publish
• Bring format ideation and hook development: pitch what we should be making, not only make what's asked for
• Build an AI-native production pipeline. Use generative and AI-assisted tooling across ideation, storyboarding, B-roll and visual generation, editing, sound, captioning and versioning, so output volume isn't capped by hours in the day
• Use AI to multiply testing, not just speed. Ship multiple hooks, cuts, thumbnails and captions per concept, and let the retention data decide which one wins
• Explain and defend your tooling choices. Know where a model genuinely beats shooting it, where it doesn't, and where it puts us at brand or accuracy risk
• Keep pace with the tooling. Evaluate what's new, run small tests, and fold what works into the pipeline
• Stay genuinely native to the platforms. Know what's working on X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels this month, and adapt fast
• Shoot on location in NYC and travel to events and conferences a handful of times a year
• Turn technical material (research disclosures, competition results, product capability) into something a non-specialist will watch to the end and a specialist will respect
• Direct on-camera talent, including team members and researchers who are not natural presenters
• Own the edit: pacing, captions, sound design, motion graphics, thumbnails and titles
• Run to our video workflow: brief → shot list → shoot → rough cut → taste check → brand check → publish
• Own the numbers on your own work. Retention curve and 24h view velocity reviewed per post, with a written decision at each checkpoint: double down, iterate, or kill the format
• Repurpose long-form and event footage into short-form cuts across channels

Requirements

• A reel. This matters more than a CV, and we want to see short-form you conceived as well as shot
• Demonstrable ownership of a channel or format that grew, with the numbers to back it
• Hands-on fluency with AI creative tooling, and work we can watch that proves it. Video and image generation, AI-assisted editing, voice and audio, upscaling, captioning. We care that you have a real workflow and an opinion about it, not that you've used a specific product
• Prompting and iteration skill. You can get a model to a usable, on-brand result and know when to stop trying and pick up a camera instead
• Strong shooting fundamentals and your own kit, or the ability to spec what you need
• Expert editing in Premiere, Final Cut, DaVinci or equivalent, with real command of motion graphics and sound
• Taste. The judgement to use AI as leverage without the output looking generated
• Genuine feel for platform-native storytelling and a habit of watching what's working and why
• NYC-based and happy to shoot in person
• Fast, self-directed, and comfortable shipping in days rather than weeks
• Comfortable being told a cut is technically inaccurate and fixing it. Accuracy is non-negotiable here, including anything a model produced
• Interest in or curiosity about cybersecurity, AI, or the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry is a strong plus. You don't need to arrive an expert; you do need to want to understand it
